I think you are off to a great start, Billy. I, like many in the class, had a very strong response to the image of the manhole cover/cement and tree trunk/grass. That is VERY well seen and very succinctly gets at the heart of your interest (although I do note that it seems to be cropped into a strangely long rectangle - is this purposeful?). I also enjoy the tree against sky in silhouette and some of the vertical versions of that on your contact sheet. I hope the conversation during critique was helpful in terms of guiding you toward thinking more clearly about the kinds of imagery you might want to capture to help convey your ideas. Be sure to keep the images that you think are strongest out somewhere, pinned on a while where you can see them often, so that you are constantly seeing/thinking about them as you continue with the work.
